Mud Lake Studios is a community ceramics studio dedicated to providing a safe, positive, accessible, environmentally conscious, member-based space open to anyone and their creative process to grow as an artist, to hone their craft, to learn new skills, and to engage in a welcoming, like-minded community of individuals. The Community and Events Coordinator will uphold and promote these values as outlined in the Membership Agreement and Mission Statement and work independently to grow our studio by engaging with the public.

Responsibilities

  • General skills and knowledge in ceramics making.
  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and execute a diverse range of community events, including classes, and workshops, fundraisers, and pop-ups.
  • Schedule and coordinate with hosts, instructors, and participants to ensure guidelines are understood, set up for and clean up after each event. There should be 2 class offerings per week and at least 1 workshop per month.
  • Manage all aspects of event marketing to maximize attendance and engagement through social media, email campaigns, and local outreach. This includes: a newsletter, social media posts, press releases, and posters/flyers.
  • Ability to use Canva or other design software to create effective ads and posts.
  • Maintain a Google calendar of classes and events for both studio members and the public; update Mud Lake Studios website and any other applicable online calendar such Source Weekly.
  • Identify and request (within reasonable budget) any items needed for classes and events at least 2-4 weeks before the day of.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with community partners, sponsors, and vendors to enhance event success and community involvement.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Make SOP’s and track event performance metrics and prepare post-event reports and follow up to inform future planning efforts.
  • Work with the owner and management team to identity and implement studio systems.
  • Ability to communicate with the public and sell ceramics while being in the shop on shift days.
  • Know the in’s and out’s of the studio, suplies and shop for shift days.
  • Additional tasks may be required.

Expectations

  • General ceramics abilities and knowledge.
  • Knowledge of marketing and how to use social media. (photography abilities would be fantastic).
  • Be on time and prepared for each shift.
  • Be a friendly, helpful resource in the studio and maintain a positive, patient presence with other members.
  • Effective communication skills to connect with the public and well as to communicate urgent needs to the owner in person or via a phone call; less urgent needs should be communicated via text or email.
  • Collect data and information on events and venues that may be useful to Mud Lake Studios.
  • When answering questions or connecting with the community verbally or written, always come from a place of positivity. Always assume the best of the public. Be clear but relaxed and without judgment. in order to maintain an overall Positive Mental Attitude. Remember: we set the mood for guests and members alike.
  • Speak with owner directly in the case of any uncertainty.
  • Experience in event planning and management with a focus on community engagement.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Attend all management and studio meetings.
