Bike & Ski Technician

Job Summary:

We’re looking for a Full-Time Bike & Ski Technician to join our team! This position is perfect for someone with a passion for outdoor sports, particularly biking and skiing, and who loves working with their hands. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and customizations on both bikes and skis, while ensuring that our customers’ equipment is safe, functional, and ready for their next adventure.

Key Responsibilities:

Bike Technician Duties:

• Perform bike tune-ups, repairs, and custom builds, including drivetrain, suspension, brake systems, wheel truing, and general maintenance.
• Assess bikes for repair needs, provide quotes for services, and communicate with customers regarding the work being performed.
• Ensure the shop’s bike repair area is organized and well-stocked with the necessary tools and parts.
• Help customers with bike fit adjustments and recommendations to improve comfort and performance.
• Assist with assembly of new bikes, from entry-level models to high-end performance bikes.

Ski Technician Duties:

• Perform ski and snowboard tuning and maintenance, including base grinding, edge sharpening, waxing, and binding adjustments.
• Assist customers with ski and snowboard equipment setups, ensuring proper fitting and functionality.
• Conduct repairs on skis and snowboards, including base and edge repairs and binding installations.
• Maintain an organized ski repair station and ensure that all tools and materials are properly stocked.
• Stay up to date with ski and snowboard technology to provide expert advice to customers.

General Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service by offering technical advice, product recommendations, and solutions to customers’ needs.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following safety protocols and best practices for repairs and equipment handling.
• Help customers in the retail space with product inquiries and purchases, offering knowledgeable insight into gear and accessories.
• Stay current with the latest industry trends, technologies, and product offerings to provide customers with the best possible service.
• Assist with seasonal transitions (bike to ski, ski to bike) in terms of shop inventory, service needs, and equipment swaps.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• Prior experience as a bike or ski technician is preferred but not required. We’re willing to train the right person with a passion for the outdoors.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with bikes and skis is a plus.
• Skills:
• Familiarity with bike and ski maintenance and repair, including mechanical systems, suspension, and basic troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of various ski and bike brands, equipment, and accessories.
• Ability to perform high-quality repairs in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Personal Traits:
• Passionate about biking, skiing, or both.
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to collaborate.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
